Call for Papers

As you can see (if you click on it), the theme of the conference is pretty wide open. Please contact me if you wish to be included on a propsed panel dealing with warfare in The Book of Mormon.

What would the panel do?

Thats a good question. A panel is a collection of people who have papers to present. Its usually devoted to a specific topic or theme. So you would simply get up and give a short presentation about your research.

I'd really like to do something on for this, but I don't know how scholarly it should be. I have interests in lots of topics, but as a math/stats guy, I don't know if I have credentials to talk about historical stuff that interests me.

If you want to be a stats guy, perhaps you could do a logistical study. This would entail figuring how much food and water a soldier needs a day and then determining the amoung to supplies an army and their porters/pack animals can carry. You could also examine their maximum distanct they could travel in a day to figure out how many days they could go without resupply. (which would tell you the armie's operational range) If you click on the logistics tab to the left of the screen you will see where I have briefly examined that topic.

Wow, I really should not try and type anything at the end of a graveyard shift.

Morgan, while I enjoy stats, often there is nothing more boring to read. I loved Kathryn Daynes book on polygamy I just reviewed, but it is really hard to stay interested when quoting numbers. I like her stories of a couple getting married at a church dance much more than the economics of polygamy, though I thought she did a good job making that interesting too.

I think I could put together some interesting facts on the priesthood ban, for example, though I don't have extensive footnotes to back everything up. Without extensive footnotes, I don't know if this sort of thing will be accepted. What do you think?
